PERFORMANCE:

The sawn wood of Encino Rojo is well machined and has good properties for nailing and screwing, although it is recommended to make pre-drills. It is well-tailed and can be dyed and polished to a very satisfactory finish. Being porous, Red Encino absorbs all treatments. The wood dries better slowly to minimize deterioration, but presents a high shrinkage, and, in damp conditions, can be susceptible to moving put into service. Heartwood is classified as undurable but moderately impregnable with protectors. This makes it suitable for thermal modification.

MAIN USES:

With excellent environmental credentials, it is a key species in many export markets. Its main uses are furniture, floors, doors, fine cabinetmaking, moldings and kitchen cabinets. It is also used for certain applications in the construction sector.
